2. What information we collect
When you use Founder Growth Compass, we may collect:
- your first and last name;
- business email address;
- company name;
- role or job title;
- company website;
- your responses to the 24 Founder Growth Compass diagnostic questions;
- information you provide about your business, growth priorities, business stage and current commercial challenges;
- your telephone number if you ask us to contact you;
- your preferred contact time, if provided;
- any optional message or context you provide;
- technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as timestamps, request information and limited technical logs;
- information about how far users progress through the assessment, used to understand and improve completion rates.
We do not ask you to provide sensitive personal information such as health information, political opinions, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or similar special-category information. Please do not include sensitive personal information in any free-text field.
3. How we use your information
We use your information for the following purposes.
Provide your Founder Growth Compass assessment
We use your questionnaire responses to calculate your Compass scores, identify relevant growth constraints and display your diagnostic results.
Operate, maintain and secure the service
We use limited technical information to run the application, preserve an assessment in progress, prevent abuse, investigate technical problems and maintain service security.
Respond to a request from you
If you ask us to contact you about the Founder Growth Sprint or another SPC service, we use your contact details, assessment result and any information you choose to provide so we can respond meaningfully.
Improve Founder Growth Compass
We use aggregated or event-level usage information, such as whether users start, complete or leave the assessment at a particular stage, to improve the experience.
We do not send individual questionnaire responses, diagnostic free text, your name, email address, telephone number, company name or internal lead score to third-party analytics services.
Communicate with you about SPC
We may send service messages that directly relate to an assessment or enquiry you requested.
We treat ongoing marketing separately. Where consent is required, we ask for it independently and you can withdraw it at any time.
4. Our lawful bases
Depending on the purpose, we rely on the following lawful bases under applicable UK data protection law.
| Purpose | Lawful basis | Why |
|---|
| Provide the Compass assessment and results you requested | Legitimate interests | To provide the business diagnostic you chose to use and operate the service effectively |
| Preserve an in-progress assessment and maintain service functionality | Legitimate interests | To provide a reliable user experience and avoid unnecessary loss of progress |
| Security, fraud prevention and abuse protection | Legitimate interests | To protect SPC, the service and its users |
| Respond when you ask us to contact you about the Founder Growth Sprint or another service | Legitimate interests and, where applicable, steps requested by you before entering into a contract | To answer the enquiry you initiated |
| Improve the Compass using first-party, non-identifying funnel analytics | Legitimate interests | To understand whether the service works effectively and where users abandon it |
| Ongoing marketing where consent is required | Consent | You have actively chosen to receive those communications |
When we rely on legitimate interests, we consider the purpose of the processing, whether it is necessary, and the effect on your rights and reasonable expectations.
You can object to processing based on legitimate interests in certain circumstances. You always have the right to object to the use of your personal information for direct marketing.
5. How the Compass diagnosis is produced
Founder Growth Compass uses a predefined scoring and rules framework.
Your responses are converted into scores across six dimensions and are evaluated using deterministic diagnostic rules. The system may identify:
- your strongest areas;
- your primary growth constraint;
- related or upstream constraints;
- Growth Operating System sub-patterns;
- selected evidence-based diagnostic observations.
The diagnostic is intended to support business reflection and discussion. It is not an automated decision that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
We may also calculate an internal indication of how relevant an SPC service may be to your circumstances so that we can prioritise follow-up appropriately. This internal qualification result is not displayed publicly and does not change your Compass diagnosis.
6. Emails and contact
Assessment-related emails
After you complete Founder Growth Compass, we may send you a service email confirming completion or giving you access to your results.
This is a service message related to an assessment you requested.
Founder Growth Sprint enquiries
If you select Contact me about the Founder Growth Sprint, we will use the details you have already provided, together with any telephone number, preferred contact time or optional message you add, to respond to that request.
Marketing communications
Ongoing marketing is separate from the Compass service.
Where consent is required, we will only send marketing where you have actively opted in. Any marketing message will identify SPC and provide a straightforward way to opt out.
If you withdraw consent or object to direct marketing, we will stop sending marketing communications. We may retain a minimal suppression record so that we continue to respect your preference.
7. Who we share information with
We use service providers to operate Founder Growth Compass. Depending on the final production configuration, these may include providers of:
- application hosting;
- managed database hosting;
- transactional email delivery;
- domain and infrastructure services;
- security and technical support.
Our intended production providers currently include:
- Netlify — application hosting and delivery;
- Neon — managed PostgreSQL database hosting;
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
These providers process information in accordance with their own contractual terms and, where applicable, data-processing arrangements with us.
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not provide your Compass questionnaire responses to third parties for their own advertising purposes.
We do not use your individual diagnostic responses for third-party advertising targeting.
8. International data transfers
Spyglass Point Consulting LLC is a United States company and some of our technology providers may process information in the United States or other countries outside the United Kingdom.
Where UK data protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we use an appropriate lawful transfer mechanism, such as:
- an applicable UK adequacy regulation;
- the UK International Data Transfer Agreement;
- the UK Addendum to approved Standard Contractual Clauses; or
- another legally recognised safeguard.
The precise mechanism depends on the provider and transfer involved.
You may contact simon.minett@spyglasspointconsulting.com if you would like more information about the safeguards used for relevant transfers.
9. How long we keep your information
We do not keep identifiable personal information for longer than reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
Our current retention approach is:
| Information | Retention period |
|---|
| In-progress assessment stored in your browser | Up to 7 days after your last activity, unless completed or cleared earlier |
| Completed Compass assessment and associated contact details | Up to 24 months after your last meaningful interaction with SPC |
| Founder Growth Sprint enquiry | Up to 24 months after your last meaningful interaction, unless it develops into a client relationship |
| First-party funnel analytics | Up to 12 months, after which data is deleted or anonymised where appropriate |
| Security and technical logs | Normally up to 90 days, unless required for investigation or security purposes |
| Marketing consent records | For as long as reasonably necessary to demonstrate and manage your preference |
| Marketing suppression record | Minimal information retained as necessary to continue respecting your opt-out |
| Client records | Retained separately in accordance with applicable contractual, accounting, tax and legal requirements |
Where information is no longer needed in identifiable form, we may anonymise it and retain anonymised statistics for analysis.
We review these periods as the service develops and may update them where there is a legitimate legal, operational or security reason to do so.
10. Assessment draft storage
Founder Growth Compass may temporarily store an unfinished assessment in your browser so that refreshing the page or accidentally navigating away does not unnecessarily cause you to lose your progress.
This temporary storage is used only to provide the functionality you requested.
It:
- is not used for advertising;
- is not used to build an advertising profile;
- expires after a limited period;
- can be cleared when the assessment is completed or abandoned.
If we introduce non-essential cookies or similar tracking technologies in future, we will update this notice and provide any consent controls required by applicable law.
11. Analytics
Founder Growth Compass uses privacy-conscious funnel analytics to understand how the assessment performs.
We may record events such as:
- landing page viewed;
- assessment started;
- diagnostic section completed;
- contact stage reached;
- assessment completed;
- results viewed;
- Founder Growth Sprint page viewed;
- contact button selected;
- contact request submitted.
These analytics are designed to understand the journey through the service rather than profile individual respondents.
We do not include questionnaire answers, diagnostic free text, names, email addresses, telephone numbers, company names or internal qualification data in analytics events.
12. Security
We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information.
These include, where appropriate:
- encrypted web connections;
- controlled production access;
- server-side validation;
- secure management of credentials and environment variables;
- database access controls;
- abuse and submission-rate protection;
- separation of public results from internal diagnostic and qualification data;
- monitoring and logging appropriate to the service.
No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security, but we review and improve safeguards as the service develops.
13. Your rights
Depending on your circumstances and the lawful basis involved, you may have the right to:
- ask for access to personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- ask us to delete your personal information;
- ask us to restrict how we use your information;
- object to certain processing based on legitimate interests;
- object at any time to direct marketing;
- ask for certain information to be provided in a portable form;
- withdraw consent where we rely on consent.
Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before the withdrawal.
To exercise a right, contact:
simon.minett@spyglasspointconsulting.com
We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.
14. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we use your personal information, please contact:

We would like the opportunity to resolve your concern.
If you are in the United Kingdom, you also have the right to raise a concern with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
If you are located elsewhere, you may also have the right to contact the relevant privacy or data protection authority in your jurisdiction.
15. Children
Founder Growth Compass is a business service intended for adult founders, owners and business leaders.
It is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children through the service.
16. Changes to this notice
We may update this privacy notice if Founder Growth Compass, our service providers, our business practices or applicable privacy requirements change.
The current version and effective date will be available through the Privacy Policy link in the service.
If we make a material change to how we use previously collected information, we will take appropriate steps to provide notice where required.
